Dr. Bill Locante is a nationally renowned
implant dentist with a primary practice in dental implantology. After
graduating from Marquette University School of Dentistry in Dental Surgery,
he promptly developed an interest in the promising field of dental implants.
“Advances in implant science were really just beginning”
he says, “and I was captivated with the real solutions they provide
my patients. This is an area of practice where one can greatly improve
the quality of a person’s life.”
 |
Dr. Locante then completed an advanced fellowship in implantology
at Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn, New York (the first organized
implant program in the country). He studied under Dr. Normin Cranin,
one of the first pioneers in the field of Implant Dentistry.
After training was accomplished, Dr. Locante pursued “complete
and total” knowledge of dental implants, both in his private
practice and as an advisor with major implant manufacturers in the
US. Not only was he learning the techniques and procedures, but
also he was instrumental in the design and implementation for the
continuing development of implantology. |
Dr. Locante is board certified as an implant dentist by the American
Board of Oral Implantology, has been named a Diplomate of the International
Congress of Oral Implantologists, is a fellow of the American Academy
of Implant Dentistry, and is past president of the Southern District
of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID), of which he is
a past trustee at the national level. Dr. Locante has also served on
clinical advisory boards for major dental implant companies, helped
develop new techniques and dental implants, and performed extensive
research in bone cell and bio protein healing mechanisms.
Dr. Locante was one of the first implantologists in the area to receive
his implant certification from the American Board of Oral Implantology,
plus receiving Diplomate status in this prestigious organization. He
is dedicated to teaching implantology to doctors around the world, both
at his teaching centers in Nashville and Memphis, Tennessee as well
as being a visiting lecturer with the International teaching faculty
of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.
With
traditional implants, there is a four-to-six month waiting period to
allow the implant to fuse with the jawbone. Then the permanent crown
(tooth) is placed for regular, everyday use. However, Dr. Locante holds
a patent on a temporary crown that is placed during the initial surgery.
This method is beneficial to patients especially for cosmetic reasons.
Normal, everyday use will come after the permanent crown is placed.
He has also been at the forefront in research and implant design for
immediate function implantology with multiple published articles in
esteemed dental and implant journals. Not only is his immense experience
in implantology crucial, but also his knowledge in science and bone
physiology provides the foundation for every aspect of his practice,
teaching, and new product development.
“In medicine and dentistry, it’s difficult to offer a permanent
cure” he says. “However in the case of dental implants,
we can offer a long-term and effective solution for those with missing
teeth. Dental implants offer a real, stable solution.”
Dr. Locante is an exceptionally qualified implant dentist. He has the
experience, knowledge and expertise necessary to provide total implant
care for his patients. He has knowledge of all aspects of implant dentistry
and total oral rehabilitation. He invites anyone with missing teeth
for a consultation so that he can fully diagnose the exact condition,
then offer a sound, scientifically-proven treatment.
